Translator qualifications

First, I successfully completed my university degree in Economic Science at the University Panthéon-Assas in Paris where I was awarded, in 1995, a DESS External Trade diploma. This is a French diploma which is awarded upon completion of five years of university studies. Following several years of professional experience, I went on to obtain a translator qualification at Chamber of Industry and Commerce in 2007/08 in Germany.

During my 14-year stay in Paris and a one-year stop-over in Canada (incl. a six-month internship at the Canadian-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Montreal), I acquired an excellent command of English and French and totally absorbed both the French and Canadian cultures. Even whilst still studying, I began translating texts and interpreting for a number of IT and service companies as well for universities located in France and Canada. My main working languages at this time were German, French and English.

Further to my core languages, I also passed the Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera (Nivel Medio) at the Instituto Cervantes in 2006.This certificate confirms that the holder has demonstrated a good command of Spanish at B2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (i.e. fluent use of the Spanish language).

During the course of my professional career, I have been able to acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the marketing, advertising, corporate communications and PR fields and gained experience in the software and hardware industry, the abrasives industry and in machinery and plant engineering.

In addition, I also participated in the BDÜ Summer School Legal Language in 2011 which provided me with an in-depth knowledge of German civil and criminal law. I successfully passed the final examination which allowed me to be certified by the Regional Court of Hanover as a professional technical translator/interpreter.

Through regular participation in further education courses on specialised terminology, translation tools and translation competency, as well as in technical communications, I have been able to actively deepen and enhance my broad language skills – skills which I am proud of and pleased to be able to offer both my long-standing and prospective new customers.
